Meet Frank Marrero, MD

Dr. Frank Marrero is the Medical Director of Gastroenterology Services at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. He is a board-certified gastroenterologist and internist by the American Board of Internal Medicine and on the staff of Memorial Medical Group. He provides comprehensive care in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal conditions. Dr. Marrero also serves as the Medical Director of Gastroenterology Services. 

A native of Wills Point, Texas, Dr. Marrero earned his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester. He completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio, where he also served as Chief Resident in internal medicine and Chief Fellow in gastroenterology. Prior to relocating to Lake Charles, Dr. Marrero served as a staff physician at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation’s Digestive Disease Institute.

Before entering medical school, Dr. Marrero also served as a combat medic and orthopedic technologist in the U.S. Army Reserves. He has received several honors for his work as a gastroenterologist, including the American College of Gastroenterology’s Clinical Research Award and the American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society Clinical Training Program Award. Dr. Marrero has also published research and lectured on a variety of topics, including esophageal disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, motor disorders of the esophagus, gastrointestinal bleeding, probiotics, pancreatitis and colon cancer screenings.

Dr. Marrero regularly participates in the Memorial/LSUHSC Family Medicine Residency Program, lecturing and precepting residents. He serves as a committee member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy practice operations committee. He also volunteers at the Calcasieu Community Clinic, providing free care to eligible Calcasieu residents.

I'm a new patient. Can I fill out the paperwork before my appointment?
To help prepare for your first appointment, you can download and print new patient paperwork prior to your visit. Please click Download under Patient Forms above. If you are not able to to do this before your visit, you can fill out paperwork in the office. Please note: some clinics may have other specific forms for new patients in addition to the forms above.
It's my first visit, do I need my medical records from my previous doctor(s)?
If you have seen another physician, it is helpful to have his/her previous office records. A consent for the release of information must be signed and then we can request records from your previous physician.
Do you need my insurance information at the time of my visit?
Yes, we require your insurance card at time of service. We will file all claims to our participating insurance groups. Payment of insurance co-pays, deductibles, and all fees NOT covered by your insurance company are expected at the time of service. Fees may be paid by cash, check or credit card.

Our physicians and nurses are with patients throughout the day, so it is usually not possible for them to immediately answer phone calls. We will return your call as soon as possible. I have a question about my bill. Who do I contact?
Your Memorial Medical Group bill includes charges for goods and services rendered by your physician. Depending on your care, you may receive separate bills for services such as X-rays or lab work. You may contact our financial services department at 337.494.3265 with any questions or concerns about your bill or to pay your bill by phone. You may also visit the billing and financial services office located at 3050 Aster Street in Lake Charles. It is open Monday – Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
