Dr. LaFuria is a board-certified internist and primary care physician at Memorial Internal Medicine on 3rd Avenue. He has been caring for patients in southwest Louisiana for almost 20 years.

A primary care physician is often the first medical professional you see when you're sick. They are specifically trained to act as personal doctors, providing long-term, comprehensive care. Internists see adult patients, diagnosing and treating a variety of issues – from cold and flu to managing chronic diseases, like hypertension and diabetes. Primary care physicians, like Dr. LaFuria, are also the access point to specialty care, like cardiology, orthopedics, and surgical services.

Dr. LaFuria is a graduate of Louisiana State University with a bachelor’s degree in science. He then began his medical training at Louisiana State University School of Medicine. Dr. LaFuria continued with his post-graduate medical training with an internal medicine residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

He is a member of the American Medical Association, Calcasieu Parish Medical Society and the American College of Physicians.
