When your baby is admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), you can be assured that they will receive the highest level of care from a dedicated team of healthcare professionals. The NICU is staffed by specialist doctors known as neonatologists, nurses, and other medical professionals trained to provide the best possible care for your baby.
Neonatologists play a key role in the NICU. These doctors, like Dr. Sanders, specialize in newborn care, particularly for premature babies or those with medical conditions requiring intensive care. Neonatologists are responsible for diagnosing and treating your baby's medical conditions, monitoring their progress, and coordinating with other specialists to ensure comprehensive care and support for your NICU baby and your family.
A native of New Jersey, Dr. Sanders obtained his bachelor's degree from Rutgers University. He then obtained his medical degree from Rutgers Health Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. His post-graduate medical training included a pediatric internship, residency and fellowship at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. During his medical training, Dr. Sander's received the David H. Smith Pediatric Housestaff Award, the ARVO/Nation Eye Institute Travel Fellowship Grant, and was named Samuel W. Clausen Fellow.
Throughout his long career, Dr. Sanders has not only provided expert medical care to his patients, but has also dedicated his time to improving the healthcare industry. He has served on numerous committees and management teams for quality assurance, ethics, infection control, critical care improvement, staff quality improvement, building and grounds committee, PICU/NICU peer review committees, neonatal quality improvement, research ethics, and practice evaluation.
