Heart Fund
The Heart Fund supports heart patients in need with transportation, medication, and other medical-related needs.
This fund is supported by Hearti Gras, an annual community-wide heart health education, engagement, and fundraising campaign that takes place in February.
Some recent projects funded through this effort are the purchase of three echocardiography beds for cardiology patients and a cardiology UL headlamp. Additional initiatives include:
- Nutrition assistance
- Gas cards and Lyft rides for transportation needs
- Food vouchers
- Wheel chair purchase for patients
Lake Charles Memorial Health System’s Heart and Vascular Center has provided excellence in healthcare to the community since opening its doors in 1952. With comprehensive, state-of-the-art heart and vascular services, technological advancements and sought-after physicians, the Heart and Vascular Center covers a range of heart health needs, from diagnosis to treatment to rehabilitation.

Current Giving Opportunities
Please consider making your year-end tax deductible donation to the Cardiac Rehab Upgrade Project to purchase additional equipment. To further enhance the rehab experience, the Foundation has set a goal of $100,000.
The Foundation is committed to upgrading Lake Charles Memorial Health System's
cardiac rehabilitation equipment and facilities for patients who have
experienced a cardiac event. The Cardiac Rehab Upgrade Project will include
modernized exercise equipment and additional patient-centered care spaces,
allowing the team to better serve each person on their journey to recovery.
By contributing to this upgrade, you’ll elevate the cardiac rehab experience for patients in our community through an enhanced exercise capacity, a decrease in future heart-related conditions, an improvement in their quality of life, and a decrease in psychological distress.
