Imaging
Lake Charles Memorial offers comprehensive, advanced radiology services
in comfortable, convenient surroundings. Our radiologists are certified
by the American Board of Radiology with extensive training and experience
in all areas of technology. Digital x-rays, CT scans and mammograms are
available at Memorial’s main campus on Oak Park Boulevard and at
Memorial for Women on Gauthier Road.

Our services include:
3D Mammography
-
Mammography is the process of taking a digital image of the breast to identify abnormalities
such as very small lumps, areas of calcification, or other changes before
they can be felt by a woman or her physician.
Advanced MRI
- LCMHS Advanced MRI uses a High Field Open Unit MRI system. This technology
facilitates the most comfortable and room patient experience while providing
a full diagnostic. Advanced MRI is ideal for patients who suffer from
claustrophobia or fear tight, enclosed spaces.
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an advanced, non-invasive diagnostic
tool that utilizes magnetic fields and radio waves and can be used to
see inside the body with incredible clarity.
- MRIs require a special scanner that combines a powerful magnet with radio
frequency pulses to create a clear soft-tissue picture. An MRI can be
viewed as a three-dimensional picture. Your doctor can use an MRI to tell
if there are any irregularities in the tissue.
- MRIs can be used to detect various condition, injuries and disorders to
include: tumors, organ abnormalities, spinal cord damagers, multiple sclerosis,
joint injuries/disorders, bone infections, stroke, eye disorders, inner
ear disorders, aneurysms, heart problems, blockage/inflammation of blood vessels.
Bone Density Scans
- Bone density scans are painless, non-invasive tests used to diagnose osteoporosis.
Bone density is measured at the hip and spine with high accuracy and precision,
yet with very low exposure to radiation.
CT Scans
- For those requiring cardiac, brain or peripheral vascular examination,
our 128-slice CT scanner takes advantage of the latest advances in CT
imaging technology to provide increased speed and detailed information,
better diagnostic care, greater convenience, and improved patient comfort.
Radiography
- Digital x-ray technology spots tumors or suspicious areas using electromagnetic
radiation to make detailed images.
- Fluoroscopy is a type of imaging that shows a continuous x-ray image on
a monitor, much like an x-ray movie. It is used to diagnose or treat patients
by displaying the movement of a body part or of an instrument or dye (contrast
agent) through the body.
Nuclear Medicine
- Unlike conventional imaging studies that produce primarily structural pictures,
nuclear medicine and molecular imaging visualize how the body is functioning
and what’s happening at the cellular and molecular level.
Special Procedures
- Arteriograms
- Venous access
- Digital breast biopsies
Ultrasound
- Ultrasound uses sound waves to study and treat hard-to-reach body areas
providing quality imaging of the fetus, breast, gynecological and urological
area, as well as general imaging.
